GALLANT DEFENCE OF A FAR. AWAY POST
BRITISH PLUOK ON THE RHODESIAN FRONTIER.

The Rhodesian-German border was heroically defended by an A-iglo-Belgian force of three hundred against a mixed Gorman force of fifteen hundred. There was a ten days' siege, and, despite tho remoteness of the region, the Germans were wonderfully equipped. They had eighteen cainioii, and rockets, stars, and heliographs, showing pre-war preparations. Tho Germans kept up a tempestuous fire, and capturcd a britisli relief convoy. They frequently demanded the surrender of the defenders, 'but wore fought off, and retired, leaving thirty Germans and rows of .natives dead on the field. AMERICAN COLLIER SEIZED SUSPICIOUS OWNERSHIP. ' By Telegraph—Presa AesociatioD—Copyright Cincinnati, November 23. A British cruiser seized the American collier Geneseo (2330 tons) ofF the West Indies on the ground that she was partly owned by Germans. Tho consignees, Blake and Company, are demanding that if the vessel is truly American tho United States ought to send a warship to forcibly take the Genesee from British custody.
