FEATHERSTON FLOWER SHOW.

The annual show of the Featherston Horticultural and Industrial Society was held on Thursday undor favourablo auspices. The attendance,, both afternoon and evening, was large, over £28 being taken at. the doors. In aid of the Red Cross Fund, £45 was raised by means of an' auction sale of a lamb donated by Miss Jessie Martin, exhibits offered by competitors, sale of sweets and drinks, tea-rot»n takings, and various competitions. The exhibition was a very satisfactory one in vieiv of the unfavourable weather conditionsprevailing of late, tho out flowers being a comprehensive collection, and what the display lacked in numbers was niado up_in quality. Bouquets and other decorative;- exhibits except tables were few, home-work was not as well represented as previously, and the children's section showed a falling off in the number of entries. Homo produco suffered likewise, but fruit and vegetables Were as numerous as usual. The judge's decision for decorated tables placed Miss V. Tyer first in the open class,-with Miss B. Donald second, tmd Mrs. -Palmer third, and the section for those who have never gained a first prize was won by Mrs. Horace Tyer, Mrs. J. G. M'Kenzio being second, and Miss., Eva Card third. The popular vote almost coincided wiflj Miss M. Cooper's" decisions, being: Miss Eva Card, 1; Miss V. Tyer. 2; and Mrs. Horaco Tyer, 3. Mrs. W. J. Martin won the ros9 bowl presented by Sir Waltor Buchanan, M.I/.C., for annual competition, Mrs. W. Barton being second, and Mrs. J. 0. Bidwill third. _ Miss G. Yule was first for most points m sweet peas, Mrs. J. O. Bidwill second, and Miss V. Tyer third. Mrs. W. J.. Martin was the winner of the special prize for most points in vegetables and fruits,; Mrs. J. 0. Bidwill being runner-up, and Mrs. AV. Wakely third. - The Taulierenikau Camp Military Band contributed selections at the concert held in the evening, and Mrs. J. H. Fieldhouse assisted with a coHcert party. ; .
