CURING THE SOLDIERS
RESULTS OF TREATMENT IN
GREAT BRITAIN.
Quoting from the journal of the Danish Medical Society the relative number of deaths, recoveries, and partial recoveries among all tho German soldiers treated' in the military hospitals of Germany during the first nine months of tho war, the "British Medical Journal" says:—
"Comparable figures have not been published in this country, and it is not probable that their compilation will at present be undertaken. We believe, howevor, from information in our possession, that the following percentages, based on tho experience of the first year of war, will prove to be approximately correct: Results of Treatment in British Military Hospitals in Great Britain and Ireland. Discharged to duty, on . furlough, (or sent; to convalescent homes ... 95.00 percent. Died o.B6percent. Permanently unfit 4.14 percent. "Such statistics possess a certain interest, but it is not possible to draw from them any conclusions as to the ratio of men who have died of wounds to those who have recovered more or less completely. A large but unstated number of men treated in the most advanced medical units and on the lines of communications must,i.a.ve died be-,< fore they reached the hospitals in Germany or the United Kingdom.'-'-
