News has been received of the death of Private William Dobson, Daniel Street, Wellington. Private Dobson joined the' Main Expeditionary Force in Egypt, and was present in the earlier fighting in Gallipoli. In June Mrs. Dobson was advised that her husband was missiDg. Last week she received a letter' from a member of the machinegun section of the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force, who wrote:—"During out last spell in the trenches wo came across several bodies lying in such an exposed position that previously it had been impossible to bury them safely. Among them we found your husband, and I am sure you will be pleased to hear that we buried him with due reverence and respect. In _ his pocket we found a hymn hook, which I am returning to you." The hymn book was presented by Mrs. Dobson to her husband, and it was from that book tho English soldier obtained her address.
