By Telegraph—Press Association—Oopyrielt (Bee. November 5, 10.30 p.m.) London, November 4. The wool soles exhibit a better spirit, and prices a,ro very firm. The following oie tho prices realised for the fleece portion of the clips named:—"o<hoka," top price-27d., average price 263 d.; "Reay," top 165 d., average ISSd.; "Tarakhi," top 19d., average Ilgd. Messrs. Dalgety and Company, Limited, have received the following cablegram from' their London house, under date November 4:—"Long-stapled greasy merinos, 5 per cent, above closing rate of last salea; good demand for bulky scouredß. Short faulty merinos arc 7} per cent, lower than Septemper prices, and aro neglected; for greasy crossbrcda the opening rates have been maintained. Fine scoured:;, 10 per cent, dearer, end medium and- ooarsc aro 5 per cent, to 7£ per cent, dearer, America buying these wools. Sliipes of bettor descriptions are 5 per cent, to 71 per cent, doarer, whilst inferior are 10 per cent, dearer than September prices." Messrs. Murray, Roberts and Co., Ltd., have this morning received a cablegram from their London friends, Messrs. Ban del'6on, Murray and Co., under date November 4, as follows:—"For best descriptions of wool the market Is firm. Good demand for crossbred. Compared with opening rates crossbred fine, scoured, and greasy, has advanced li per cent, to 10 .per cent. Medium scoured advanced 7* per cent, to 10. per cent.; medium greasy advanced 5 per cent, to 7J per cent.; greasy ooarse advanced. 5 per cent.; slvpe advanced 5 per cent, to 7i per cent." The following are the latest quotations for Colonial Government securities in comparison with those ruling last iveok:—
MONEY MAItKET. Tho Hank of England discount rate was on January 2, 19R reduced from 5 to 45 per cent., on January 22 it was reduced to 4 per cent., mid on January 28 3 per cent. On July 30 tho rate wag raised to 4 per cent., and on July 31 it was raised to 8 per cent., and on August 1 it ivas further advanced to 10 per cent. On August 6 tho rate was reduced to 6 per cent., on August 7 it was further reduced to 5 per cent., at which rate it now stands. The Bank of Franco rate is 5 per cent., as against 4 per ccnt. prior to tho war. OPEN MARKET RATE. The open market discount rate for three months' bills is M per cent., as compared with 4? per cent, last weak, and 3 por cent. Inst ycaj-. .Short loans are quoted at 43-8 per cent., as against 4 3-8 per ccnt. last week, and lj per cent, last year. Q COLONIAL AND OTHER PRODUCE. Wheat—Tho market is rjuiet: cargoes aro ca-sier and parcels aro 3d. to 6d. lower. Flour is firm and advancing. Oa.ts—The market is firm, but inactive. La Plata. October-November shipment, 30s. 6(1. J'eas, are Arm. New Zealand maples. 68s to 725. Bradford Tops.—The market is very firm. Sixty-fotos, 37<1.: super sixties, 36d.; common, sixties, 35d.; (ifty-si'xes, 32} d.; fifties, 29id.; forty-sixes, 25Jd.; forties, 2<td. Sugar is firm and unchanged. Butter—The market is un'changea, bnt displays a rather steadier tone, the recent reduction having somewhat increased tho demand. Colonial has been cleared. Choose.—The market is firmer.
