The Hon.- J. ■A. Hsnan is going to New Plymouth on Wednesday.

Chaplain Captain Hoare has been transferred from Avondale military camp _to Tauherinikau military camp, Chaplain Captain Gray, of Tauherinikau camp, going to Avondale.

Flight-Lieutenant Olive Collett, of the Rflyal Flying Corps, has made several flights in England, in France and across the English Channel. This young -officer is a son of the late Mr. Collett, Government stock inspector, of Tauranga, and! is well known in the Bay of Plenty.

Mr. C. Smith, of Palmerston North, manager of'tlie Bank of New Zealand, is about to take a trip to the Old Country for the benefit of his health. ■

Private Bruno Walter, whose death was reported yesterday, was employed prior to the war on the staff of Messrs. Rowley and Gill, Featherstou Street. Ho entered their employ four years ago, and when war broke out went to Samoa. with the First Expeditionary Force. On his return he enlisted for service in Egypt, and was placed on Dr. M'Gavin's Stationary Hospital staff. Mr. Walter was a good athleto and a capable pianist.

Mr. E. F. Blundell, manager of the branch of the Bank of New Zealand at New Plymouth, retires on superannuation at the end of the present year. He joined the service of the bank in 1873 at Nelson.

Visitors staying at the Albert Ho.tel are: Mrs. J. K. Mitchell and Miss M, Mitchell, of Pat-ea, and 'Mr. H. F. Moss, of Dunedin.

Sergt. Herbert S. Hyde, of Wellington, was amongst the survivors from tho torpedoed transport Marquette. The name appeared in the published! list on Wednesday as Syde. Policy changes have been made necessary owing to the retirement of Superintendent Ellison of Wellington. Inspector Cruickshank is being transferred from Auckland to tho charge of the Greymouth_ Police District, and will be succeeded in his present position b,v Sub-Inspector Slieehan, of Timaru, who is to be promoted to the rank of Inspector. Both these officers were formcrlv stationed ' in Wellington. Inspector M'Phair, at present stationed at tireyraouth, is to take' charge of the ffaikato, Thames, and Eotorua districts, with headquarters at Hamilton, In succession to Inspector "Wright (promot-d to Superintendent), who has been transferred to Dunedin, vice Superintendent O'Donovan, transferred to Wollmgh-.u
