LOWER HUTT BOROUGH COUNCIL.

A meeting of tlie Lower Hutt Borough Council was held on Wednesday, there being present the Mayor (Mr. H. Baldwin), Councillors Hobbs, Ball, M'Douga.ll, Clendon, Brassel, lleldrum, Hodgins. The resignation of, Mr. G. E. M'llvride as fire inspector of the borough ivas accepted. The Under-Secretary, Department of Lands and Survey, advised that Parliament had recently appropriated a sum of £14 15s. for the purpose of putting the road between Moiling Bridge and the railway line in order, and that steps were being taken to have the road proclaimed a street. The council agreed to accept dedication 'on condition that the street and footpaths were put in working older. The Minister for Internal Affairs acknowledged tho council's resolution regarding censorship of kinematograph films, and stated that the whole question of censorship was under consideration. : The Library committee recommended "that the booksellers be asked to send direct to the librarian on approval a stated number .of new- books immediately on arrival of each shipment, and that the town clerk shall at once call a meeting of the library committee for the purpose of selecting tho books to be retained, and this was approved.
