FORTNIGHTLY MEETING. Mn W. Watson presided over the fortnightly meeting of the Society for the Prevention' of Cruelty to Animals held yesterday afternoon. A letter was received from Messrs. Meek and Von Ilaast, stating that they were directed by tho executors of the will of the late Mr. John Moore Richardson to inform tho society that under Mr. Richardson's will a legacy of £50, free of duty, had been left to the society. The inspector (Captain J. Henry) reported that he had attended to several cases that had come Under his notice, and in practically everj; instance a satisfactory arrangement'had been arrived at. Ono conviction had taken place on October 8, when an owner had' been fined for illtroating a horse. Subscriptions were received from tho following:—"Friend," Singer Sewing Machine Co., J.- Staples and Co., and A. Davy, 21s. each; Te Aro House, Thomson, Lewis aiid Co., 10s. 6d. each; Mrs. A. E. Mills, 7s. 6d.; Mrs. Litchfield, Mrs. T. Young, Mrs. C. H. Izard, Dr. C. F. Pattie, Rev. Dr. Gibb, E. C. Brown, Ltd., Kirkpatrick and Co., C. P. Powles, Ellis and Manton, W. H. Bennett, O'Connor, Potter and • Son, New Zealand Bible and\ Tract Depot, Colonial Motor Co., os. each; 1 Mrs. Martindale Kendall, Mrs. Kidston, Mr. Hornblow, Mr. Ames, 2s. each.
