THOSE SELECTED FOR SERVICE. Tho eight volunteer nursing sisters whom Miss Rout (secretary of the Volunteer Nursing Sisterhood) proposes to send to Egypt, via Sydney, tliis week to connect there with the Medina are as follows: — Sitter Craig and Sister Kerr,_ registered hospital sisters from Gisborno Hospital. They are being paid for by tho Gisborne I'atriotie Committee. Miss lliggins, who lias had a great deal of experience in domestic science, and who till now was principal of the Gisborne Domestic Scienoo School. She is an expert in invalid cookery. Tho Poverty Bay school teachers are paying for her; Miss Sale, Auckland, has had four years' hospital training and nino years' private nursing experience for relatives of hers who are medical men, and for other doctors. Her family are paying for her. Miss Ballantine, Wangauui, book-keeper to the Manaia Butter Factory. Tho Wanganui Patriotic Committee is paying for her. Miss Dora Murch, Hawera, has had St. John Ambulance training. The Hawera Patriotic Committee is paying for her. Mrs. Leggatt, Welliugton, has had a good deal of restaurant experience, and has liad service at Oriental Bay Military Hospital, the matron of which reports on her as follows: —"Mrs. Leggatt stands alone as a good, all-round, capable woman." She is paid for by the New Zealand Shearers' Union. Miss Sylvia Wilson, Wellington, is a member of the Wellington St. John Ambulance Brigade. Miss Clara Rogers, head assistant of tlie china department in Kirkcaldio's (Wellington), is a Rangiora. woman, and has earned great praise at Trentham for tho capable and complete way in which she took charge of the liiienry. She is paid for by Kirkcaldio's employees and tho Hawera Patriotio Committee. Mrs. Harold Rhiud, Lytteltou, has been in Trentham since last July, and earned high praise from the matron and staff sisters. Mrs. Knudsen, Christchurch, 'has had a good deal of general nursing experience. The Trentham report on her work is "excellent" and "most satisfactory in every way." She goes as the representative of £100 paid in by the Midhirst ladies. Miss Orange, Ohristchuvoh, goes as the representative of the Farmers' Cooperative Association. Her special qualification is that of seamstress.

Members of the Ladies' Auxiliary of the Yomifr Men's Christian Association have been organising small jumble sales lately, and with the results of one that was held' at Petone a fortnight ago, and the one that was held in the Tory Street Mission Hall yesterday afternoon close ■upon the sum of £20 has been realised. This will be of material assistance to the camp work of the association at Trentham, for which object the sales have been held. Mrs. Low, president of the Ladies Auxiliary, Mrs. Dumbell (secretary), Mrs. Fossette, and Mrs. Bennett were largely responsible for yesterday's effort.- Another is to be held shortly, and contributions addressed, "For jumble sale" and left at the Y.M.C.A. buildings in Willis Street, will be very much appreciated. Mrs. Cock arrived in Wellington yesterday on her way through to Nelson from.Hawke's Bay.. Mrs. J. S. Evans and the Misses Evans (2), of Nelson, who have been spending tho winter months in Australia, returned to New Zealand by the Manuka on Monday.
