THE HOSPITAL SHIP
PRELIMINARY ORGANISATION. The office of the No. 2 Hospital Ship is established, by the courtesy of Messrs. Nathan and Co., on the top floor of their buildings in Grey Street. The secretary, 3{r. Spence, has been engaged during the past week in organising and equipping the office. The jvholo of the applications for positions on the ship, numbering over 300, have been classified, and will be submitted to the principal medical officers of the four military districts for their guidance when selecting their drafts for the ship, hi addition to the applications received at Headquarters and by the Director of Military Hospitals (Colonel Valintine), large numbers of men have registered for service oil tho ship at the various recruiting offices throughout the country. —this is the correct course to adopt. Every man desirous of serving on the ship must register, stating on his registration card the branch of service-pre-ferred bv him. His application is only then in order, and will come before the proper authorities for consideration in duo course. No women, other than qualified nurses, are being taken on the ship. Some hundreds of nurses have offered their services, aud from these a selection will be maqe. .Colonel Cooic, administrative officer on tho ship's staff, has arrived in Wellington, and has taken control.
