MERCHANT SERVICE GUILD
APPLIES FOR A NEW AWARD. By Teleeriipli.—Press .Association. Auckland, October 18. At- tho Arbitration Court 1 the Merchants'' Service Guild applied for a new award in connection with tlio employment of members by the Northern Steam Ship Company and owners ol' small vessels registered at Auckland. Tho demands of the union were similar to the Wellington award. Increased wages were sought on different classes of vessels, and the hours of work sought aro eight per day. After evidence had been heard, tho President said tlio guild had not placed much data boforo the Court on which to friimo an award. Decision was reserved.
