TRADE UNION FUNDS INVESTMENTS
SHARE PURCHASE IN LABOUR PAPER ULTRA VIRES. Br Telegraph—Press Association—Oopjrichi ("Times" and Sydney "Sun" Services.) (Rec. October 16, 5.5 p.m.) London, October 15. Mr. Justice Younger, giving judgment on the question whether a trades union can apply its funds to subscribing for the shares in a- Labour newspaper, held that a transaction of this kind by tho Boilermakers' Union was ultra vires. Tho union was personally liable to make a refund of £1000 invested at interest of 4 per cent, from the date of tho payment.
