MAGISTRATE'S COURT

Mr. D. G. A. Cooper. S.M., presided at a brief sitting of the Magistrate's Court on. Saturday morning, when Patrick Brady, charged with assaulting F. A. Allan, was fined 205., in default to undergo three days' imprisonment. A youth named John AVilliam Scatchard was remanded until AYednesday oh .bail (£SO) in connection with a charge of indecent assault. Mr. P. AV. Jackson appeared for the accused. A plea of not guilty was tendered by a soldier, named Thomas M'Donald, when lio was charged with false pretences. The alleged offence was committed at Levin on August 14, and M'Donald was remanded to appear at Otaki next week. The following were fined for insobriety. Evelyn Barr 205... Allan M'Phee 205., and AVilliam Collins 17s. Gd. In every case default was fixed at three days' imprisonment.
