THREE VISITATIONS IN ONE STREET. Between. 8 p.m. and 9.30 p.m. on Saturday three residences within a hundred yards of 0110 another were visited by burglars, and the result was a general scare in the neighbourhood on the news getting round. In each case the people of the house were absent, . making it clear that the guilty , parties—and it is thought that there are more than 0110 concerned—carefully watch the premises to make quite: sure that the people of the house are out before they commence operations. ' , . The places entered on Saturday evening were the residences m Roxburgh j Street of Mr. W. ,H. Fellows (No. 26), I Mrs. C. Lewis (No. 28), and Mr. John [ O'Shea (No. 40), City Solicitor. Mr. and | Mrs. Fellows had gone out before 1 p.m. to visit the pictures,, and on their return home at about 9.20 p.m. , they found that'the place had-been'-'ransack-ed. The thief had entered the houso by the kitchen window,- and had made his way upstairs to the back bedroom occupied, by Mrs. Fellows's brother, who was week-ending at Paremata, There .a strong wooden, portmanteau was smashed open, and the contents were rifled. What is missing- Mrs. Fellows could not say, and the loss would not be known until her brother returned. All she was aware that was missing last evening was a pair of gold sleevelinks in a case and a gold brooch. Next door both Mrs. Lewis and Mr. and Mrs.' White, who stay in the house, were out, but threo children slept during the visitation. There Were evidences of haste here, for . after trying to prise open the main side door ; tho burglars broko the dining-room window (also in a.side passage), and so entered, the house. Here they secured three. gold rings and a few trinkets_ of 110 very great intrinsic value, passing over two or three watches which they, must have, seen. .. .

. Entrance, to Mr. John O'Shea's residence was obtained by tho kitchen window at the back of the' house. Tho intruders' search was rewarded by the discovery of about £15 or £20 worth of jewellery, including two gold bangles some gold trinkets, and a dux gold medal won by Mr. O'Sliea at tlio Ot-ago Boys'. High School. The police were summoned 011 Saturday night, and yesterday the detectives had .the cases in hand. There have been a large number of house-breaking cases during the last two or three months at Kilbirnie, Hataitai, Austin Street, and Oriental Bay, but sofar'the burglar or gang have succeeded in evading arrest. -
