CHESS V. BOWLERS. The Wellington Chess Club's match against a team chosen from the various local bowling clubs was concluded on Saturday evening, the club team being returned winners by 21} games to 13}. The two sides were well matched at the higher boards, but the bowlers were less successful at the lower boards. Half a dozen outstanding games were written off as draws on Saturday evening as they could not affect the result. The club's officials are now busy with preparations for a match against team from the various suburbs, to be played next month. The suburban team will be a very strong one..
