WAIRARAPA'S GENEROSITY APPRECIATED. - The Belgian Refugee Food Fund, Masterton, has received the following letter from Mr. Frank Kitchener, tho chairman of the Fund in England:— "Wo wish to thank you very much indeed for the great kindness which has been shown our fund by the people of New Zealand, and especially of Wairarapa. We have to-day received through tlio Treasury a cheque for £500, being the donation sent from Masterton for our fund, and we also hoar thero are fire tons of jam on tlio way. We are extremely grateful for these gifts, as the work of our fund is increasing enormously. We are now sending to many inland towns, as well as to the refugees in and around Londo. It may interest you to hear tliat we are now getting up an entertainment at t-lie Queen's ■ Theatre, which has been lent us, on July 8. at which many well-known artists,. including Sir Herbert Treo and Mario Lohr, are giving their services. Her Majesty Queen Alexandra has promised .tlio entertainment her most gracious patronage, and has also written us a letter in which she expresses lier great sympathy and interest in the work which wo are doing. Her Majesty, further intimated that she is extremely sorry she is unablo to be present in .person at our entertainment, owing to a previous engagement which slic is unable to cancel. Arrangements have been mado through Mr. Gordon Campbell, of tho firm of Messrs. Weddell and Co., for the shipment of 300 carcasses, which, t.understand from tho cablegram received from Mr. E. Carleton-Holmes, aro m\v ready for shipment. - Again may I ask you kindly to convey tlio deep sense of gratitude which the fund feels to t.hono wlio have so kindly and generously helped t'o supply its wants."-
