AUSTRALIAN ARMY NURSES
The reiterated demands made for monthspast by "Tho Age," and lately Jii Parliament also, for fairer treatment for, our nurses, have at last horno fruit, states thp "Melbourne Age." The revised list of pay and allowances issued by the Defence Department has been hailed with relief by many families who were grieving because they could not afford to make a substantial allowance to one of tbeir members who had cono on ictive service to an Egyptian hospital. In the matter of salary a great improvement has been effected at one stroke by the Department. The staff nurses on active service are to be paid 7s. a day—that is, £127 los. a year— instead of £60 a year. The pay of sisters and matrons has also been substantially inoreased.
