NEW ZEALANDERS ABROAD

London, July 1. Dr. John P. Whctter, of Cliristchurch, is ill Harrow. Mr. "William J. Clachan, of Wellington, is staying at Wallington. Dr. William M'Kay, of Groymouth, is at present m London, and expects to go later to Scotland. Mr. C. 11. Stott, of Waitara, has come to England 011 a business trip, and is staying at Blackhoath Park. Captain G. S. Smith, of the loth South Otago Regiment, who is at present in London, 13 staying at 10 Dorset Street, W. Mr. Melville Johnstone,- of Waipukurau, arrived by the Muritai a fortnight ago, with the. intention of joining the Imperial Forces. Lientenant - Colonel Gore-Gillon,. R.A.M.C., .formerly of, Auckland, has arrived in London with Mrs. Gore-Gil-lon. Mr. J. A. M'Kinnon has arrived in England from Cliristchurch to complete his medical course, and then will offer his services to tho medical authorities. Mr.' W. A. CurzonrSiggers, of St. John's College, Cambridge, has been Awarded one of the reading prizes. He is the only son of Canon and Mrs. Cur-zmi-Siggers, of St. Matthew's, Drniedin, and is studying law. Mr. Andrew Frasor, of'Ngaruawahia, who spent- a few weeks in India en route for England, is now staying in the Highlands at Drumnodroch, Inverness, his birthplace. Ho has also spent a short time : with relatives in the Isle of-Wight, where ho attended two or threo stock sales. Mr. W. .Lankshear, -of Wellington,' who is paying his' first visit to England after 3? years, is at present in' London,' but shortly intends spending a few weeks in tho Lake District. Later lie will visit' his elder son, Mr. F. Russell Lankshear. 8.A., M.Sc., who is at Manchester University. Sir George Makgill, the secretary of the Anti-German Union, is tho son of a Now Zealander, who some years ago claimed an ancient Scotch baronetcy, which had been dormant for two centuries. and was formerly held by-the Viscounts Oxford.' Sir George is a nenhow of Lord Haldane, and makes his home at Yaxley Hall, near Eye, in Suffolk.

Mrs. Phjlip Shaw, daughter of Mrs. Hayhurst, Temuka, South Canterbury, has returned to England after a visit to her mother, and is at present staying at Ha,llinside Farm, near Newcastle-on-Tyne, to be near her husband, who is a

lieutenant in tlio 6th Northumberland Fusiliers, stationed there. Mr. Mackenzie 'paid a visit on Monday last to the British Red Cross Hospital at Netley,- where lie saw and chatted to about twenty-four wounded' Now Zealand soldiers. Mr. Mackenzie found tliein all contented and in good spirits, and doing well. Mrs. Tvilgour, of Auckland, who arrived in England in June, 1014, was ou the Continent with a party of friends when the war broke out, and, after some difficulty, returned to London, where she settled down, and has taken part in helping in some of the many works that have been needed during the war. She thinks of returning to Auckland by the P. and 0. Medina, leaving in September, staying en route in Melbourne and Sydney, and hopes to roach New Zealand about Christmas.
