MORE MONEY NEEDED. An appeal for further funds has bee issued by the Anglo-Belgian Committi of the Belgian Red Cross. In tho o ficial circular it is stated:-— Tho needs of the Belgian Red Croi make an appeal, not only to the gei erous sympathy of the British publi but also to their patriotic forethough The Belgian Army is an actual aii substantial unit of the fighting forci engaged on behalf of tho Allies. ■Ii exertions and sacrifices in the field ai a direct relief to the burden which Grc; Britain carries ill the maintenance < the war and the toll of life which si cures victory. To preserve the efficiency of this for< an adequate Red Cross Service is indii pensable. But the Belgian peopli eagerly as they would provide such a equipment, are helpless to fulfil the: desires. Their country is enslaved, the: wealth is confiscated, their liberty is i fetters. Their Government, which ; evicted from 'all but a strip of its ow territory, can look for succour only t the Allied and still inviolate natio with whom its troops are fighting i comradeship. The sympathy of Englishmen for th Belgian people has been most bouiiteoui ly proved. But it may not have bee realised that the conditions of the wa have made the succour of the Belgia wounded,. for all practical purposes identical with the treatment of wounde Englishmen. In helping them, Enghui is directly hastening her own triumpl: The need of the wounded is urgent and transcends all other considerations Money is greatly needed, and the ta: upon all supplies will increaso as th Belgian ■ Army continues to play it part in the thickening combat upon th Western front.
