August 3, 7.45 p.m.) ■ T ' , London, August 2. in Germany is the biggest metal company m the world—the Kriegsmetall besellscJiaftj which has five subsidiary companies, all German. The chief of theso is the Motall Gesellschaft, of I'rankfort, and this again had two offshoots Merton's, of London, and the American Metal Company. . Merton's is registered as an English company. The total capital of the companies is £050,000, nearly half of which is held by German bankers. Doubtless Mertons has out off its German relations, but is nevertheless a unit of a huge German organisation controlling the metal market of the world.
