CHARGES. OF THEFT. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.! Dunedin, July 23. The hearing of tlio charges against John Robert Henderson, Captain and Adjutant of the 14th (South. Otago) Regiment, was continued at the Magistrate's Court to-day. ' The first count proceeded with was partly heard—that on or about June 10, 1912, accused did steal £96 55., a portion of a sum of £1292 9s. paid, to him on behalf of the Government for payment to officers and men of the regiment in camp at Milton. The second charge was that on November 9, 1912, at Milton, _ accused did steal 305., an amount received by him for a military belt. The third chargo was one of stealing £7 Bs. Gd., portion 6f a cheque for £20 paid to a' Milton carter. The allegation was that the £7 Bs. Gd. was accused's private account with Carter, and that lie paid tlio whole amount with the regimental funds. Tlio accused reserved his defence in regard to each of the three charges, and was committed for trial.
