WINTER CLOTHING FOR TROOPS
NEW ZEALAND'S POSITION. Sir Joseph Ward asked the Minister of Defonce in Parliament yesterday what provision was being made for winter clothing for our'men in the Dardanelles. He said that ho had , been advised tliat the weather there during tho winter was very bad-- Ho thought it would be of interest to the country to know if proper provision had been made there. •Mr.' 'Alien: "Yes, sir. _We have our regular orders for clothing, but somo time ago I cabled to England asking whether they would supply the winter clothing from there, or whether .wo would supply it here, and I asked them whether >vo shoiild manufacture in New Zealand any special _ clothing out of sheepskins or goatskins, and, if not necessary for our own men in the Dardanelles, as far as New Zealand could do it, wo would be quite pleased to manufacture these for the Imperial Forces anywhere. |I have not received a reply yet."
