MENINGITIS EPIDEMIC
DEATHS,,QF .SOLDIERS. Three more soldiers have died in the Trentham Hospital. Private Herbert James Williams, who came from Picton, and Private David Booth Doggett, who belonged to Rangiora, died on Saturday, while Privato Walter- Ford, wliose relatives aro in England, died on Sunday. The body of Williams was placed on board the Arahura, which left for Picton yesterday afternoon, and that of Doggett was taken to Lyttelton last night. The age of each of these two men was 21 years. Ford, who was 26 years old, is to be buriea at Karori to-day .with military honours.
Privates Doggett and Ford died of cerebrospinal meningitis.
Pte. Williams died of pneumonia.
There aro now sixteen oases in the isolation hospital at Trenthaim, but these include some which have not yet been definitely diagnosed as meningitis. Dr. Valintine stated yesterday that there were suspected cases of meningitis at Wellington Hospital, but thoy v.'pro not yet definitely returned as meningitis cases. Thoy were isolated, however, lie said.
No meningitis oases have been reported from any of the new camps, and the medical staff are very much on the look-out for them.
