DELAYED 'PEN HOURS BY SLIP,

The Auckland express, which was due in Wellington at 2.40 p.m. yesterday, did not get in till just before 2 a.mw to-day, nearly twelvo 'hours late.

The delay was due to a slip on thfl line about eight miles south of Ta Kuiti. _ _ Tho passengers on arrival at' To Kuiti at 1 a.m. yesterday were informed that tho line would prohablv be clear at 6 a.m., but it was not until II a.m. that the express pulled out from' the stat-ioji and proceeded, 'file slip was not more than ten or fifteen yards iu length, but the hillside kept slipping continuously as thy spoil was removed.
