Jlilkaba led for ono mile and a half from Wingarara, Eathfarnliain, Jack Rice, The Vet, Elavel, and Uxbridge. At tho last turn. Wingarara ran to the front. Bathfarnham overhauled Wingarara rounding the bend, led over the last hurdle, and won easily by ten lengths with a neck between eecand third. Time, smin. 45isec. —a record. This race was a chapter oftaccidenls. At the obstacle at the turn Master Timi toppled over, bringing Monorail down. Player landed on top of the two horses and broke a leg. This spill left Black Northern and Vi in possession ,of the field,, Ormoloid' having run off at tho first hurdle. Black Northern won as ho liked. Ormoloid was set going agiin;,and completed tho course, for third'"money, baulking at every hurdle, and taking fully fifteen minutes to get round, amid tho amusement of the crowd. ,'The time for tho race was 3min. 20sec. HUTT VALLEY'S PATRIOTIC MEETING. ■' There was a good attendance at tho patriotic meeting of the Hutt Valley Trotting' Club, in aid of tho AVounded Soldiers' Fund, held on Saturday, at Petone, and some very close finishes were recorded. In the Allies' Victory Handicap the three placed horses and Silver Black were separated by inches only at >tho finish, the race being won last stride. Major Samuel (president), who made his last appearanco as official of the club, officiated as judge, and also presented the various trophies to the winners, tho latter generously donating them back to tho fund.
