VIOLENT GERMAN ATTACK
COMPLETELY STOPPED London, July 2, 5.25 p.m.' The High Commissioner reports:— "An attack by German forces, preceded by a bombardment, was made with violence at 2 o'clock this morning on the line Ablain to Angres, north of tlie Bethuue Road. It was completely stopped. Two other attacks were repulsed—one in Argonne, accompanied with large bomb-throwing containing asphyxiating gas, the other at Bois !e Jt'retre, which was preceded by. artillery fire." '
