NATIONAL RESERVE
PATRIOTIC DRILL COJIPETITION. The NationaJ 'Reserve drill competition that is being promoted by the Wellington Patriotic Society will take place at, Newtown Park on Saturday week (July 10) The following are the official .conditions that will govern the competition:— "Teams of not more than 16 and not less than 12,' under a n.c.o. Number; form fours; form two deep; about turn; form fours; form two deep; about turn; by tire loft, quick march; left incline; right incline; form fours; right; on the left, form squad; forward; right form; forward; right turn; advance in single file; form two deep; at tho halt, on the left, form squad; stand at ease, final: March of tho whole of competing squads. .Dress: Mufti. Some uniform dress for each squad is desirable.
Entries_ close, on July 3 at the office of tho Now Zealand Patriotic Society Wellington Branch), 18 Grey Street. Tho judges will be announced later. RAILWAY BRANCH. At a meeting of tho Wellington Railway Branch of tho National Reserve tho following officers were elected:—Captain, E. Meek; lieutenants, J. Barr, L. Barclay, H. Whittaker, 1). D. Elias; Q..M. Sergeant, A. Mackie; SergeantMajor, E. Wilson; Sergeants, AV. P. Carter. H. J, Allan, A. Coles, C. R-. Watson Captain Meek is an old volunteer, liaving served for a number of years in the Wellington Naval Artillery. He was one of the foundation members oF that craek corps, and attained the rank of a senior non-commis-sioned officer. Lieutenant Barr is also an old volunteer. Ho was a member of tho city rifles.
