THE MAXIMUM PENALTY
A "REGULAR DRILL DODGER" FINED £5. The maximum penalty was imposod on a youth aged 18 years, Michael Francis M'Hugh, who was charged in tho Magistrate's Court yesterday with failing to attend drill. Staff-sergeant Maior Stewart said that tho lad, had been convicted sevoral times already for similar offences, and absolutely refused to drill. "He's a regular dodger," declared the Sergeant-Major, "and I suggest that the severest penalty bo imposed on him." The Magistrato'(Mr. D. G. A. Cooper, S.M.) acquiesced, and fined M'Hugh £5, in dofault one month's military detention.
