FRENCH CLUB
The French Club held its weekly meetin<r on Thursday night. Madame de Cleeiiß occupied the chair. Madame Deehanet-Jt'intosh gave a lecture on "Henry Jlurger,. a Irench Author of the Second Empire, and sketched the author's life, the struggles of his jouth, and spoke of his early death at the a„o of thirty-eight. She read extracts from several of his works, including one from his "Scenes in Bohemian Lile. work, which portrays the happy-go-lucky life of artists and students m Pans, is one in which the author was most at home, as in it he describes Jus own experiences, and those of men ho knew intimately. The lecture was listened to with mncU interest. The minor pieces before the lecture were a piano solo by Miss Kayward. X l ?® a French journal read by Mr. 1. lung.
