LIQUOR IN THE ARMY
ALLEGATIONS REPUDIATED. (Rec. June 24, 5.10 p.m.) London, June 23. Speaking in the House of Commons, Mr. Tennant (Under-Secretary for War) repudiated Mr. Ginnell's suggestion that young total abstainers, upon enlistment, becamo confirmed drunkards. No such complaints had reached the War Office, and ho was sorry that anyone in a responsible position should make a suggestion so devoid of foundation. Stringent measures had been taken to limit the consumption of drink, and all intoxicants sent to the front were exclusively for the wounded, except mm.' .—"Times" and Sydney "Sun" Services.
