CABINET MINISTERS POOL THEIR SALARIES

- ■ ♦ CRITICISM IN THE HOUSE OP COMMONS. (By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright.) London, June 8. Members of the Cabinet, including | the Lord Chancellor (Sir Stanley Buckmaster) have agreed to pool their salaries. Each member of the Cabinet will receive £4271 a year. Mr. Asquith is excluded from the scheme. The matter was referred to in the House of Commons, when Sir Arthur Markham (Liberal) objected, to-the.re-ported pooling of Ministerial salaries. There was some disorder. Mr. Asqmffi said he was surprised and pained. If. they were going to discuss hovr Ministers disposed of their salaries there would be an end to all the decencies of public life. He absolutely declined to acknowledge the right of the House to inquire how a Minister spent his salary. He would never consent to hold office on such conditions. The matter 'dropped.
