A DISAPPOINTED VISITOR.
(To tho Editor.) Sir,—As a visitor to your city, I at- ' tended on Tuesday evening last a grand military concert at the Town Hall, given by our soldier boys at Trentham. As the lads had made a final appeal to tho Wellington citizens to help, and show ' practical sympathy to them by attending ' the concert, I fully expected to seo an 1 overcrowded house, but to my surprise i and disgust, I found the hall compara- 1 tively empty. The programme submitted was a good one; but altogether apart j from this fact, the peoplo were aware ■ .that in tho course of a few days those , boys were leaving our shores to fight, and if need be to die for us, but yet tho citi- ' zens failed to rise to tho occasion. I '' am afraid that our boys of the iitli Rein- ' forcements will leave New Zealand deep- ' ly impressed by the apparent lack of sym- : pathy nml patriotism displayed by tfio I very, very large majority of flic peoplo ' of our Capital City.—l am, etc., t DISGUSTED. !
