CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE. A meeting of tho Committee of tho Wellington Chamber of Commerce was held yesterday. Mr. J. J. Macintosh presided, and tliore were present: Messrs. R. W. Waterhouse, W. J. Bridsoti, D. A. Ewen, W. E. Bennett, W. J. Thompson, W. F. Cuthbortson, and T. Balliuger. Tho Auckland Importers' Protective Association forwarded a copy of the rules and constitution of the association with the request that the samo might receive the consideration of the Chamber. and in the hope that a similar association might be formed in this centre. It was decided to reply that the letter would he handed to a meeting of importers for consideration. Tho Wairarapa Automobile Association wrote, stating that with the idea of getting a better road connection between Wellington and the Wairarapa they had decided to obtain an engineer's report on a road from Orongo Orongo to Wharepapa. A copy of the report would bo sent to the Chamber for full consideration. It was decided to cooperato in the matter. A circular letter was also received from the Taumamnui Chamber of Commerce, stating that with the idea of forming a basis for a national highway between Auckland and Wellington, a conference of members of Parliament through whose constituencies the road would, run, and other interested bodies, was to be hell in Taumamnui on Saturday, July 17, 1915. _A delegate was invited from the Wellington Chamber of Commerce. The president (Mr. J. Macintosh) was appointed to ,attend the conference.
