POST & TELEGRAPH CONFERENCE
A conference of delegates representing the Post and Telegraph Servico opened in tho G.P.O. on Tuesday morning. Tho following delegates w'oro present Messrs. J. Mulvey. Stratford (president); H. M'Donnell, Thamos; S. A Ogilvie, Hamilton; E. J. L. Whiting, Wanganui; A. W. Downer, Palinerston North; E. G. Jones, V. Harris, Wellington; C. G. Camp (executive); D. Ardell, and D. Hamilton, Napier; G. Birnie, Westport; W. Drako, Timaruj C. E. Brian, and R. I. Allan, Dunedin; A. J. Keaney, Invorcargill; J, V. Lawos and H. M'Crea, Auckland; G, Purdue, New Plymouth; C. E. Kobinson, Gisborno; V. C. Lawn, Greymouth; A. Hanelton and It. J. Thompson, Christc/hurch.
The following motions woro passed: "That all officers bo granted monetary payment Cor overtime, and duty performed on Sundays and holidays." "That all permanent linsemen bo paid overtime for all Sundays and holidays worked." ' That tho practico of granting "time off" to some junior oxeliango clerks bo abolished and that tho principle of monetary payment for Sunday and statutory holidays lie adhered to " "That it is desired that all overtime should be paid twico, monthly." "Thai, all duly performed after (S p.m. and before 8 a.m. on travelling I'.O.'s bo paid lor at the rate of 9d. per hour." "That a '14-hour week bo lie basis for officers working on railway P.O.'s, and that, senior agents in charge should'receive an additional monetary allowance." "That exchange clerics who work tho midnight to 8 a.m. duiv should receive overtime in excess of II hours por weak in lion of present alIqwaiioea."'
