CARTERTON.

The Belvedere Dairy Company has decided to iustal a whey butter manufacturing plant for next season. The Wairarapa South County Council has accepted die tender of Mr. H. R. Burgess at Is. lOd. per yard for 700 yards of metalling in the Kokotau Road, and that of F. Oliver at 2s. Gd. per yard for 600 yards of metalling on the Belvedere Road. The Carterton Golf Club opened the season on the Taratahi Links on Saturday with a two-ball mixed foursome, when Sirs. P. A. Cole and Mr. Matthews were declared winners, witli a score of 53 and a handicap of three. The club will play a match against Eketahuna on Thursday.
