INDECENT PUBLICATION

bookseller fined. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Napier, Hay 24, Alfred Charles Howe, bookseller, was fined two pounds for selling a- copy of a book in the "Winning Post" series. Mr. M'Carthy, S.M., characterised the publication as a dreary waste of suggestive filth. He said tho more correct title for it would be "Scraps from the Literary Muck Heap." The Magistrate inflicted a light penalty, as defendant did not know the book was indecent.
