ONSLOW BOROUGH
NEW COUNCIL MEETS. The first monthly meeting of the rccently-elected Onslow Borough Council was held last night. The Jlayor (Mr. C. C. Crump) presided, and there were also present Councillors J. C. Guidner, A. AV. C. Palmer, L. A. Bro>vne, J. G. Smith, W. Appleton, A. E. liudd, and J M. Dale. The Finance Committee reiummendcd tho payment .if Ji.strict fund accounts amounting to -£530 2s. Id. lho recommendation was auup'wl. On tho rccommjndation of tke finance Committee it was rnsohed that tho Valuer-General should be asked to amend the values of the railway land between tho Hutt Road and \ictoria Track, part of whicli was leased to Mr. John Hall,, valuing Mr. Hill, as requested by the Railway Deparmen, on the basis of ownership, and not on tho basis of grazing rights. It was resolved that the letter of the Fire Underwriters' Association of February 18, re tho storage of dangerous good's, should be referred to the engineer for report. In regard to the' petition for improved maintenance, etc., of the Gorge Road and Main Road generally, it was dccided to reply to -tho petitioner that considerable improvements had been effected since they signed, and that other points raised would be further considered at a later date. It was decided to tako no action in regard to a letter from tlie Devonport Borough Council re the fishing indusIt was decided that the councillors in each ward should form themselves into a committee for the raising of the district's quota towards tho Belgian Relief Fund. ■ The engineer's report on the water supply question was received in committee. It was later decided that » copy of tho report should be supplied to councillors to be considered confidential in the meantime.
