DISHONEST EMPLOYEE
GETS TWO YEARS' IMPRISONMENT. (By ToleEraph.—Prsss Association.) Auckland, May 18. In the Supremo Court, G. Hunt, aged 40 years, was charged with the theft of money as a servant. Hunt's plea of guilty having been entered, counsel said that some years ago Mr. Justice Chapman sentenced accused to' eighteen months' imprisonment for embezzlement at Wellington. On his release he got work with a I'Yankton storekeeper. Between £7000 and £SOOO passed through his Lands. He was now charged with tho theft of four small sums totalling £11 odd. Though it was not mentioned in the depositions, tho police «cfpo«f. stated that Hunt had stolen £800 from his employer. Ho suggested this was not fair to tho prisoner. His Honour said accused had had a chance, given him, despite previous convictions, yot he robbed. He imposed a sentence of two years' hard labour.
