BANKRUPTCY COURT
A CASE FROM DANNEVIRKE,
His Honour the Chief Justice (Sir .Robert Stout) presided at a sitting of the Bankruptcy Court yesterday morning, when John Junior. Patterson, of JDannevirke, applied for his discharge. 11l making the application, the bankrupt, who appeared in person, staled that the matter had been before the Court for a considerable period, and bad been adjourned from time to time. Mr. H. E. Evans, who appeared for tho Official Assignee, said that the latter did not object to the discbarge being granted, but asked that the Court should make it a condition that the costs connected with certain litigation which had arisen in the bankruptcy should bo paid. His Honour granted the discharge, which, would operate so soon as the costs mentioned and £8 15s. 4d. conveyance were paid, tho bankrupt to have the right, to have the costs taxed.
PETITION REMOVED FROJI FILE. Mr. D. S. Smith -made application to the Chief Justico yesterday to 3iave removed from the file tlic petition of lleo. H. Baker and Co., Ltd., that Eugene Laugier, merchant, should be declared bankrupt, the petitioners having obtained a judgment against Laugier in the Magistrate's Court. Auckland, for the sum of £140 7s. 2d. Mr. Smith explained the reason for the applicants' desiring to withdraw the paction. His Honour. allowed the application, together with a refund of the value of stamp duty.
