NATIONAL RESERVE
A MOTION OF SYMPATHY. At a meeting of officers commanding companies of - the Wellington and Subnrbs group of the National Reserve, piesided over by Colonel Porter, C.8., the following resolution, moved by Major T. M. Wilford, M.P., and seconded by Major Davis, V.D., uas carried, all present standing;— "That the officers commanding coin- ? anies of No. 5 group, AVellington disrict, National Reserve, desire to express their sympathy nitli tho relatives of those who have fallen or have been wounded in the recent magnificent achievement on the shores of tho Dardanelles, and at the same time desire to place on record their belief that tho glorious and heroic deeds of young New Zealand in the recent successes of t'lio Allies will live for all time when 'the — history of the world's greatest- war comes tf> be written." The Hataitai section of E Company, 2nd Regiment, paraded nearly 90 strong rui Monday evening, under the command of Captain Bayfield-, and were drafted into permanent platoons and sections, and tho various officers appointed to their respective commands. Before marching out a pleasant little function •was enacted ill the gymnasium, when Captain Bayfield, in tho unavoidable absence of Major Amos, oresentcd to the Kilbirnie Senior Cadet Rand, <12nd Company, two handsome side drums (to put the band on its proper footing), which had been donated by the members of B .Company, After a short route march, neaded hy the band, the B Company had sectional drill, and then half an hour's company drill.
