HABITUAL CRIMINAL GETS AWAY. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) New Plymouth, May 18. John Findlay, a habitual criminal in tho local .gaol, escaped during last night. His cell door was found open this morning, and there wore indications that lie had broken the lock, and then squeezed through tho bars of tho windo.v Search parties arc but, hut t'nero was no sign of the prisoner up to to-night. Findlay was sentenced to five years and was declared a habitual criminal for burgling at Oamarn, and had been in eight years.
