RUGBY REFEREES. Mr. Edgar Wyllie presided at last night's meeting .of the Wellington Rugby Referees' Association, and there were also preseit Messrs. Lincoln, Roskruge, Kitto, Moffitt, Fordyce, Reade, Smyrke, M'lntyre, Wale, Turner, Meredith, and Perkinson. A letter was received from Mr. Alex. Campbell accepting the position of president of the association.
The chairman reported that he had attended the place at which a meeting of the New Zealand Referees' Association had been called last week, but the meeting had lapsed for want of a quorum.
Mr. Fordyce reported that the game at Trentham had to be stopped' on half-a-dozen occasions last Saturday owing to the spectators encroaching on the ground, which was not roped off. It was decided to draw attention to the matter.
Mr- Smyrke stated that seme of the referees who could not attend the weokly meetings of the association in the City were anxious to form a branch of the association at Petono and hold meetings there.
Tlie chairman eaid that the association would bo pleased to encourage tho new branch.
