The aunual general meting of the National Beekeepers' Association and
the annual Conference of Beekeepers is to be held at Wellington on Wednesday, 1 June 2, and two following days. There will also .be discussions ' on; How can we assist the'apiary-instruc-tors in checking v the spreadof 'foul breed? What is special, prime, arid good quality honey ?_ Can we improve {lie flora of our district to produce high quality ? What is the best size hive to use,', an eighth, ten, or .twelve frame, ami why ?

The ''Norddeutscho Allgemeine Zeitung" announces that the plan for stiengthoning the country's meat supplies by popularising the flesh of rabbits, which Germans regard as vermin, i 3 gaining ground. The ...Government, through the Ministry of Agriculture, is supporting. the campaign which is being conducted-by rabbit-breeders' associations. The consumption oi rabbit meat "not only opens up a new form 1 of nourishment, but is of military value, in that it enables thousands of skins to be placed at the disposal of the Red Cross to be made into'belts, chest protectors, etc." - -One- rabbit breeders', association' has already made a gift of nearly 1000 skins. By such patriotic appeals it is apparently hoped to make the unsavoury dish palatable. . DAIRY STOCK & IMPLEMENT SALE. On Wednesday, May 19, tho whole or' Mr. Green's choice herd of dairy cows iud heifers, pigs, implements, machinery, etc., will be submitted to auction at bis homestead, Karere, near Longburn, owing to the vendor having disposed of his property. The 110 cows are Jersey and Holstein-cross, stated to be in splendid condition, and showing well forward to .profit, and duo to calve in July and . August.' They were specially selected as heiiors, have always-been most carefully handled, and the herd is noiv recognised «s one of tlio best in the district. Included in the offering there are also 20 choice heifers, September calvers, 1 pure, bred Holsteiu bull, aud a number of breeding sows, porkers, and 1 purebred Bcikshire boar. ■ The special items in the large collection of machinery are Simplex 5-cow Teloaser plant, 2i-h.p. Lister engine, 3-ataud Lister shearing plant, 3J-h.p. Wolseley engine, Diedrich straw "press (which has been working this season), and 15.20 Austin motor-car. There is also a large collection of farm implements, etc., to be offered, and the sale, which will commence at 11 o'clock sharp, will be conducted by Messrs. Dalgely and Co., Ltd., auctioneers. " . ■
