Messrs.- Dalgety- and Company, Limitedreport having held their Upper Hiitt 1 sale on Thursday, April 27, when a good yarding of both sheep and cattle came for"fwuxd. Bidding throughout; the sale was dull, and- a number of .lines failed to .reach, owners' reserves. At the Levin sale on A*>ril 30, Messrs. ©algety and Company offered an exceptionally heavy yarding of both sheep and cattle, the pens being taxed to the utmost. . For «fat sheep the demand was fair, but • store .sheep .-were dull of eale. and prices considerably' easier than they have been for the past four weeka. A heavy yarding of cattle met fair competition, any steers showing condition meeting -with a ready talc. Female cattle, especially lowconditioned sorts, were not in demand, aad' the bulk of this class of stock went out unsold. The Kew Zealand Loan and Mercantile (lAgoncy Co., Ltd.. report.:—We held out usual weekly sale at Pahlatua on Tuesday, when wo submitted a good entry of sheep to a small attendance of buyers than usual. The sale was dragging throughout, and several lines were passed under the hammer, but we made a good clearance afterwards. Fat lambs: The entry of fat lambs was eomewhat larger than last week's, totalling 2618 Tho quality was not only better, but also more even. There was an improved demand, tho additional competition being provided by tho operations of a buyer l'rom Southland and another from Temuka, ns well as several local graziers. The xange of prices was:—Prime lambs, 17s. to 205.; others, 10s. 6d. to 16s. 6d.

Fat sheep: Eight races were filled with, fat sheep of average quality. From the start tlie market was firmer than last week by 2s. to 3s. per head, but towards tho close of the sale prices were a shade easier, still a good clearance of, offerings was made. Tho rango of prices woe:— Extra prime wethers, to 255.; prime wetherß 19s. 6d. to 235. 3d.; other wethers. 15s. lOd. to 195.; merino wethers, 10s. 10d.; extra prime owes, to 245. 6d.; primo ewes, to 17s. to 225.: medium ewes. 12s. 6d. to 16s. 6d , Inferior ewes, 7s. sd. to i2s.

Fat cattle: Tho yarding of fat cattlo totAllod 223 head, compared with 213 last week. Compared with last week there was no quotable change in values. The range of prices was as follows:—Extra prime stoors, to £17 55.; ordinary steei'6, £5 lCs. to £11; extra prime heifers, to £12 10s,; ordinary heifers, £5 10s. to £8; extra prime cow 6, to £13 55.; ordinary cows, £4 to £7 103.
