She will berth at the Queen's Wharf to land passengers and discharge cargo before proceeding on to Lyttelton this ovening.

SPECIAL TRIPS TO PIOTON. For the convenience of patrons of the Marlborough Hoeing Club, the Union Company has mado epecial arrangements to regard to the Wellington-Picton sorvice. The Mapourika will be dispatched from Wellington for Picton at 11 p.m. to-day, and she will leave on the return trip at 9 a.m. on Wednesday. A spccial trip . will be made by the .Arahura to J?icton on Friday. The vessel will l«\jo here at noon on the day in question, returning from Picton at 6 p.m. BAD BAR AT GREYMOUTH. Reports received from Greymouth yesterday were to the effect that there was a shortage of water on the bar at that port, as well as a heavy sea running. Tho Kamo and Karori were outside tho river entrance, while it was reported that the Kaitangata would have to discharge a Cf':rtain quantity of cargo before she would bo able to clear tho port. MESS-TABLE GOSSIP. Mr. R. H. Stewart has been engaged' as second officer of the Monowai. Captain W. Brigden, of the Awahou, has come ashore, ana Captain R. Rodger has rejoined the vessel after holiday leaye. Mr. M .R. Henry, third engineer of tho Kittawa, having come ashore, Mr. P. E. Barber has signed on tie vessel in his place.
The local agents for the A. and- A. Lino havo been -advised that the steamer Berwick Law left Colon (Panama Canal) on Wednesday, April 28, in continuation of her journey from New York to Lyttelton and Dunedin. News from Home states that the HuddaxtParker Company's new collier Hebburn iB expected to leave London on June 25 for Australia. The vessel' has been specially built for the Australian cargo traffic, and has a registered tonnage of about 3500 tonß. Discharge of the Wellington portion of the Waitemata's San Francisco cargo is expected to be completed in time for the vessel to continue her journey on to- Sydney to-morrow. _ Explosives will be landed from the auxiliary schooner Huia at Wellington to-day. The vessel comes from Auckland, via New Plymouth. , The Union steamer Arahura arrived at Greymouth from Wellington, via way ports, at noon yesterday. She wa6 to have left on tho return trip at 11 p.m. ■ For the purpose of picking up a load of wl, ex the Waitemato from San Francisco, Flora is due at Wellington from Greymouth to-day. The Katoa is also due here from Greymouth to-morrow to lift transhipments for Dunedin. • Advice has bean received by the Marine Department stating that tho Amokura left Lyttelton for Wellington yesterday. The vessel wall not arrive here before tomorrow or Thursday. Sh© will then lay up for the winter months. It is announced that the New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Ruapehu will not arrive at Wellington from St.' John, via Auckland, toll Slay 12. The.
