Mails for Chatham Islands close at Lyttelton, per, Himitangi, on Wednesday, May 6, at 2.45 p.m. Lato letters for mails beyond the Dominion cannot in futuro be posted on the steamer, but must bo posted in the laeletter posting box at the Chief Post Office up to the appointed time shown on the mail noice. The advertised times, for closing mails by steamers are liable to ateration (earlier or later) at any moment. Tho parcel-post mail per Main Trunk express clo6ea at the 0.P.0. at 11.30 a.m., and for tho south per ferry steamer at 5.45 p.m. Parcels for dipaitch by teamer and trains, with tho oiception of the usual ferry steamers for southern offices, closo at the Ohicf Po6t Office, Wellington, one hour before tho advertised times of closing of mails. As tho last clearance of the city receivers is made at 5.45 p.m. on Saturdays, all corrospoudence for the Sunday night Auckland oxpress must be posted at the Chief Post Office not later than 8 p.m. on Sunday. Tho public are earnestly requested to register all lettors containing money or valuables intended to be ecnt by post. All books and sample-packets and newspapers for places within the Dominion must bo posted half an hour before tho ordinary letter-mail closes. Unloss otherwise specified, registered letters and parcels-post packages must be handed in and money-orders obtained one hour before the ordinary moil closes. All tho principal mails by train and steamer close at To Aro and Conrtonay Place Post Offices at the f-amo hours as at. the Chief Post Office, with tho excoplion that there is no late-fee clearance, and that mails by the ferry steamers for southern offices clot*! at 5.45 p.in.
