The annual report for the Terrace School says that the health of the school has on the whole been satisfactory. Medical inspection of schools gives ground for discussion. , The committee desire to place in the school an honours board with the names of all old Terrace boys who havo gone on. active service. It would materially assist the headmaster: if parents and others would furnish the names of such old boys, so that the list may. be as complete as possible. Finances are in a satisfactory, condition. '• The headmaster states: "The' school is in an efficient state, as evidenced by , the inspectors' reports,' and the results' of the free place and scholarship examinations; I am entirely, satisfied with the general behaviour of the pupils during the past year. ' No serious case of breach or discipline has occurred, most of the school offences , are of a comparatively trivial nature—climbing fences, trespassing in neighbours' grounds after a football or a tennis ball, going, "out of bounds," etc. During the year the pupils showed -their practical and generous sympathy with the. Belgian Fund and the Ambulance Fund, while a good deal of work was done in the senior girls' class, to provide additional comforts for the New Zealanders departing for active service." NGAIO SCHOOL. The Ngaio School Committee' report: "The school has now 134 scholars on the roll, and the average attendance for April, 1915, was 125. In April, 1914, the roll.number was 108, and tho aver-, age attendance 100. It will be seen from these figures that the roll number and attendance -would have been much letter but for *an epidemic of 'measles which visited the district in the December quarter and for-some weeks seriously affected the attendance at the school. . . . The. committee desire to place on record their appreciation of tne good work done by the head teacher, Mr. Clark, and his assistants, Miss Whitcombs and Miss Spence,; and consider that the housoholders have good reason to congratulate themselves _on possessing a staff who havo the interests of the children so much at heart."
