GERMANS SUE WHARF UNION
RACIAL BAR, TO EMPLOYMENT. • Perth, April 15. George Fredericks and Hans Christensen sued the Fremantle Wharf Lumpers' Union for damages caused by tne union's prohibition of members working with Germans, whether naturalised or not. Both plaintiffs are naturalised Britishers, married to Australian .women, and had forfeited their rigLts to German citizenship. A verdict was given for Fredericks for £128 7s. and for Christensen for £97 13s. ■ . WAR SUPPLIES MINING ON GOVERNMENT CON- •\ TRACTS. London, April 14. The Government has agreed to pay piece rates for mining on Government contracts, but there will be no rule relatingto timo rates. A GRAVE MORAL PROBLEM ' GIRL MOTHERS OF ILLEGITIMATES London, April 14. The medical correspondent of "The Times" urges a national policy to help the girl mothers of illegitimate children by soldiers. "There are large numbers of unmarried girls in Britain in a state of expectant motherhood. Are they to' be left in the slough of. their- shame? This is a grave moral problem, and demands a decision."
