Mr. Hall, the State Attornej-Gen-eral, states that the wheat acquisition had resulted in a profit of £17,000, and tlio Government would probably conclude the operations with a surplus of from £25,000 to £40,000. It had been the most successful busness 'the Government had ever embarked npon. Owing to the beneficial rains the demand for seed wheat has i-„ greatly increased that the Government fears it will be unable to fully meet it. HARVEST FIGURES. (Rec. April 35, 9.55 p.m.) Sydney, April 15. Tho wheat production season has just ended with a yield of 3,527,427 bushels, or an average ol' 1.41 bushels per aero. Present stoi>s total 5,327,425 bushels. The "Daily Express" states that the Government a fortnight ago purchased £25,000,000 worth of wheat from the Argentine. THE INDIAN HARVEST. TWO MILLION TONS FOR EXPORT. Delhi, April 14. The Government's special forecast of the total harvest for April and Ms.v is ten and a-quarter million tons, against eight and a-quarter' last year. The Home authorities consider this to be an under-estimato. It is hoped that two million tons will be available for export under Government control.
