WAIHI REEFS-GIGANTIC. Tho mine manager of tho Waihi ReefsGigantic Consolidation, Ltd., reporting on April 6 on the operations at the mine for the past eight days, soys:—'The contractor has advanced the north crosscut fourteen feet, making the total length from shaft 330 ft. This face is still in dark hard rock streaked with small veins of silieia anil friahle quartz and is very hard to drill. At times small portions of the rock contain quaTtz, but only in patches; yet, I take this to be an indication that we shall meet the true quartz when tho hard rock Is passed through. In the S.E. face an additional 18ft. has been driven, making the total length from the shaft 244 ft. ■ This face is penetrating strong grey andesito favourable for carrying ouartz reefs. The distance driven for the eight days 1s 32ft, We aro pumping approximately 3000 gallops of water per hour, which is the usual inllow, and the pump is holding thin at a slow speed.
